Formatting a Word document can be quite complex depending on the type of document you are putting together. Even when you are creating something simple though, a mere copy and paste could disrupt the formatting of the whole page. I have put together a list of some great shortcut keys from the Microsoft Training Library to make formatting your Word document a little easier and/or correcting your formatting issues a little bit faster.

Proper use of shortcuts is to press noted keys at the same time. For example “Ctrl+A” = press “Ctrl” and at the same time press “A”.
- Ctrl+spacebar = remove all local formatting. If text looks weird, it could be because you accidently added something. Highlight the area and press Ctrl+spacebar.
- Ctrl+E = aligns the line or selected text to the center of the page
- Ctrl+J = aligns the line or selected text to be justified within the page
- Ctrl+L = aligns the line or selected text to the left of the page
- Ctrl+R = aligns the line or selected text to the right of the page
- Ctrl+SHIFT+F = To change the font
- Ctrl+M = indents the paragraph
- Alt+SHIFT+D = Insert the current date
- Ctrl+1 = Single-space lines
- Ctrl+2 = Double-space lines
- Ctrl+ENTER = Page Break
