Plus International Bank Challenge:

Plus International Bank was faced with the challenges of an archaic data backup solution, which involved tape rotation and offsite storage of those tapes. The overall procedures associated with tapes were impacting the end-user negatively as the backup solution was unreliable. Not only was the tape rotation troublesome due to human error, the tapes and maintenance was costly.  To reduce frustrations and costs related with their backups, Plus International Bank turned to Compuquip for their Cloud Backup solution.

As mentioned on my last blog, performing a daily backup check is very important. But, what good is a backup if you can’t rely on it? At Compuquip we believe in acting proactively by performing backup test restores for all of our clients on a quarterly basis. Having a very proactive backup plan has enabled us to test the restoration procedure and to test as many scenarios as possible to ensure that when we do face a disaster, we can quickly recover the data.

Web-Based Centralized Console – We also have the capability to manage our backups through a secure and centralized web interface. This is a very useful tool that I access daily and allows me to configure, monitor and manage the backup and restore requests for our CCSP (Cloud Connected Service Provider) clients. Read more »

The best data protection systems incorporate the ability to restore your most critical data first, then use a tiered approach to recovering less critical information. If you lose data or even an entire system, your solution should let you create strategies for recovering it in this manner, based on its business impact.

Today there are a variety of data protection options that help you recover quickly and potentially save you significant expense when restoring your business operations. Here are twelve best practices for managing your data backup and recovery.

Greetings all,

It has been almost a year since I started managing and monitoring the backups at Compuquip Technologies, and it seems that every time I get a service request to do a simple backup restore from one of our many clients I’m learning something new. Whether it’s business documents and financial records or exchange databases and SQL, Compuquip ensures your data will be there when you need it. After all, protecting business data is critical to the survival and growth of a business.

The main ingredient of having continuous successful backups is performing a good solid assessment of your network environment and knowing the type of internet circuit speed if your data will be replicated off-site. It is important to take into account the following additional factors:

  • The numbers of servers that need to be backed up,
  • The number of additional servers are likely to be added in the coming 12-24 months,
  • The amount of native data
  • How long data needs to be retained to meet company policy.

Part II of II

How One Company Met the Challenge of Data Growth using EVault

One e-commerce management company recently faced several data storage challenges that were driving up costs. With new clients coming on board, leading to immediate increases in data storage, as well as multiple databases that needed daily backup, the company’s old tape backup system was no longer cost-effective or secure enough. Plus, too much data was bogging the system down, leading to long backup windows, a high risk of hardware failure and data storage loss.
