Tips & Tricks: Microsoft Office Keyboard Shortcuts

Microsoft Office has an abundance of shortcut keys to make you life a little easier every time you use one of its programs. There are so many shortcuts in fact that it can be a bit overwhelming to try to learn them. I have put together a list of what I believe are the best shortcuts based on their frequency of use from the Microsoft Training Library. Enjoy!

Compuquip’s Top shortcut keys for Microsoft Office:

Proper use of shortcuts is to press noted keys at the same time. For example “Ctrl+A” = press “Ctrl” and at the same time press “A”

  1. Ctrl+X = Cut
  2. Ctrl+C = Copy
  3. Ctrl+V = Paste
  4. Ctrl+B = Apply Bold to highlighted text.
  5. Ctrl+I = Apply Italic to highlighted text.
  6. Ctrl+U = Apply Underline to highlighted text.
  7. Ctrl+Y = Repeat the last action. For example: You just added a row to a table. Click Ctrl+Y to add another one.
  8. Ctrl+Z = Undo the last action.
  9. Ctrl+S = Save.
  10. F12 = Save As.
  11. Ctrl+F = Find. Search for text in a document.
  12. Ctrl+O = Opens an existing document
  13. Ctrl+N = Opens a new blank document
