A huge portion of our business is dedicated to network security and protecting corporate data. An essential ingredient to that mission is ensuring that all users set up adequate passwords to not only protect their personal files and information, but to also guard against access to company databases. Incorporate the suggestions below to set a strong password that is easy for you to remember.
Setting a Strong Password:
- Needs to contain special characters such as @#$%^& and numbers.
- Must be at least 8 characters long.
- Must not have any common words such as 123, password, your birth date, your login name or any words that can be found in the dictionary.
- Needs a variation of capital and lowercase letters.

Making it easy to Remember:
- First, think of a thing, date, phrase, event, place or anything that is unique only to you. It must be at least 8 characters long.
- Create your own set of rules, or ‘translation algorithm’, for letters, numbers, spaces, and characters. For example: Replace all the ‘a’ with @, replace all the ’s’ with $, replace any space with %, replace ‘e’ with 3, replace ‘9’ with ‘P’, etc.
- Apply your unique translation algorithm to your password → For example, a password of ‘ski vail 09’ with the above rules becomes ‘$ki%v@il%0P’
